Choosing the Best Bing Ad Connector for Data Studio

Bing Ads is the second largest search ad provider, second to Google. For this reason, many of us marketers seek to dashboard KPIs from Bing Ad campaigns and using Data Studio is a great way to do it. When choosing a Bing Ad connector, consider these items.

  • Data Points: First, what are interested in reporting on? If it’s simply creating comparisons of costs and results (leads, phone calls, etc.), you may want to consider sending Bing Ad cost data to Google Analytics and reporting from there. Power My Analytics can provide that. If though, you want to report on ad network specific data (impressions, CTR, quality scores, etc.), a direct connect to Bing Ads will be needed.
  • Roll-Up Bing Ad Reporting: Do you have one Bing Ad account or many to report on? If one, any connector will do. If many, consider a connector which will allow you to pull from multiple accounts at once.
  • Direct Connection vs Data Warehousing: With some connectors, you connect directly to the Bing Ad API in real time. This means that you’ll pull data from Bing each time your report loads. Advantage: Pull historical data easily. With others, the connector itself will warehouse your data. This is done sometimes to improve reporting features. In the case of Bing, you may be best with a direct connection so that you don’t have to back-fill historical data.

Final Thoughts

For Bing, we like SuperMetrics but other connectors will get the job done as well.
